Gutted...

OOOOOOPPPS!!! If I’m honest I’m stunned at how much weight I’ve put on this week. Yes, I ate two birthday meals including desserts but the exercise I did I thought more than compensated for that…

Sunday – Walked 3 miles.
Monday – Cycled 15 miles (on my flaming birthday too)
Wednesday – Cycled 15 miles.
Thursday – Walked 6 miles.
Saturday – Walked 3 miles most of which was on hills.

The result is so bad that I’m actually at the bottom of the Gyminee weight loss table for the challenges I’m involved in. In fact so bad are things that every other competitor (17 in total) is displaying a loss whilst I’m actually heavier than I was when I began.

I’m gutted especially when I consider how tired I’ve been and how much effort all the exercise took. I suppose the lesson, if there is one is not to over rely on exercise!

(Why all the walking? I'm training for a walk up Slieve Donard next month with wee iron man Rob - my Dad. I'm training simply because I want to enjoy the day rather than suffer it)

Cheers mate its a hectic week from here to tomorrow week with a few major projects on the go. Not a good week to find time to exercise or the mental energy to diet but I need to do something. I'm going to spend today thinkin of a strategy to survive the week...

Don't lose heart, Peter. Think of it as a marathon, not a sprint. Along the way you'll have bad weeks, and don't forget the body react differently to different foods - when I eat pasta the weight sticks around for a couple of days.

Keep going, man.
